THE ROLE OF PUBLIC RELATIONS IN BUILDING BRAND AWARENESS THROUGH @tcash_id INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT

Abstract

The development of technology presents modern and all-digital innovation. The development of technology is present in various sectors, one of which is a payment instrument that is now not using cash payment instruments. One of the innovations of technological developments is the presence of Tcash. TCASH is an electronic money held by Telkomsel that has been registered and supervised by Bank Indonesia, has the same function as cash as a legal payment instrument, where the value is equivalent to the cash value deposited in TCASH account. But unfortunately the existence and usefulness of TCash is not well known by the public, therefore public relations Tcash utilizes @tcash_id Instagram account to build brand awareness. This study researchers use the post positivism paradigm. The research approach uses qualitative research which is a process of research and understanding based on methodology that investigates a social phenomenon and human problems. This study uses qualitative descriptive, where a method is used to find knowledge of research subjects at a certain time. Research uses the concept of public relations from Cutlip and Easts brand awareness concept. Based on the results of the research, TCashs public relations role in building brand awareness through @tcash_id Instagram account is the role of public relations as manager of @tcash_id instagram accounts, Public relations as well as communication facilitator between Tcash and its public, public relations also acts as a problem solver or complaint from community, and public relations as communication technicians who run the role of corporate agents to build Tcash brand awareness.

Construction of Female Housemaid Profile in Indonesian Movie

Abstract

This paper tried to analyze Indonesian movie which tells about housemaid. The aim of the current research was analyzing if after reformation era signed by the emergence of awareness on gender, the female representation has been free from gender bias. The method used was Ethnographic content analysis. It used perspective of seeing fim as the art creature as well as representation from social situation of its era. The element inspected here were: physical characteristic, environmental service, reaction and/or expression of the housemaid, and synopsis. The dominant finding was a movie about housemaid tends to emphasize the body shape and face of housemaid as the attraction, thus the housemaid problem in the relation with social problem was not found. The movie was underlined the recreative purposesas the economical commodity menu. As well as the housemaid in Indonesian movies were framed as stimulus to comply the taste and dominant norms in society.

Abstract

Television as one type of mass media has special characteristics, one of which is audio visual. Many television programs such as soap operas, in Indonesian soap operas are the programs that are most in demand by viewers. Women are featured in soap operas as talkative, consumptive, weak and other negative things. The purpose of this study is to know and interpret audiences about how women are portrayed in soap opera stories. The method used is descriptive qualitative. Data collection was done by in-depth interviews with informants in this case television viewers in Jakarta were selected purposively. The results show that the audience has different interpretations and differences depending on their background. Most opinions were positive opinions about the image of women in soap operas, they argued that it was reasonable for women to look attractive and sexy, talkative and consumptive. Indeed the nature of women is that and all that cannot be called negative

The Strategy of Radio Convergency in Ponorogo For Facing New Media Era

Abstract

The development of new media nowadays force mainstream media industry to transform following the comsumption pattern of society information which have been changed to the use of new media. Especially radio mainstream media that the listenership drop in a years. In 2015, the listenership radio only about 14% and frequently reduce to 11% in 2016. Today, society prefer to use their gadget as their information media, internet and social media become the most important part of society. Realizing this phenomena, mainstream media industry especially radio synergize with new media. Creating radio station application on gadget, making website, radio streaming, video streaming and social media account, as a way or strategy which is known by media convergency. This research aims to know how media convergency strategy uased by radios in Ponorogo, the form of new media that is used, how the management and to know the opportunity and challenge. This research use qualitative approach. This reaearch also analyze the previous data that obtained from field observation at radios in Ponorogo, then it is reviewed using Communication Science and Media Convergence review theory. The result of this research showed that there are five radios (LPS/LPK) Ponorogo have already done radio convergency, media convergency strategy has been done using several new media form which integrated to radio broadcast activity, management of media convergency is far from good, thus it is facing several problems. It is expected the result of this research can be contribute to media science and convergency and radio bradcasting effort.

Gender-Based Affirmative Policy For Female Migrant Workers

Abstract

This research aims to map the problems faced by female migrant workers and analyze the gender-based affirmative policy. Type of this research is qualitative descriptive and this research located in East Java. The data obtained from interview with selected informant based on consideration of research and results study of document. Data analysis used interactive model by Miles and Hubermann. Based on data from BNP2TKI as of October 2017, the number of female migrant workers is very high, reached 67% in total from migrant workers. The results shows, the problems of female migrant workers when pre-placement are the shelter condition is not proper, malnutrition, and harassment during medical checks up. Most problems precisely at the placement stage, those are rights violation of salary under the standard, time and workload over the limit, not obtain leave entitlements absent, limit of social interaction (communication and socialization), ignored opinions, sexual harassment, stereotype, violence, even become victims of human trafficking and drugs. The results also shows that protection policy for female migrant workers as affirmative is very needed the action on subordination, marginalization, stereotype, violence protection, and resolve the workload over the limit.

GENDER AND MEDIA (GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE AMONG FRIENDS ARE THROUGH ONLINE MEDIA IN STUDENTS)

Abstract

This paper explores the background and implications of gender-based violence among school mates through online media (cyberbullying) of Pekongan City. The theoretical argument that has been being developed is identical to physical violence and by offline. This qualitative research was conducted in the junior high school environment of Pekalongan city. Data collection techniques used observation, FGD, interviews and literary studies. The analytical technique uses an interactive model. The results showed that, 1) male students as cyberbullying perpetrators amounted 62%, as perpetrators as well as victims amounted 27%, and as victims of 11%; 2) female students as perpetrators 31%, as perpetrators as well as victims amounted 23% and as victims amounted 46% female students. The model of bullying action, done through the attack of words, pictures, photos and animation by utilizing the internet, in the forms of instagram, BBM, WA, Facebook, Twitter, Chatroom and others. The cause of cyberbullying among students, namely: group conformity, gender viewpoint of one sex, and masculinity. The cyberbullying has psychological, mental and moral implications not only for victims but also for offenders.

Gender Equality and Career Opportunities among Female Civil Servants for Better Public Services in a Regency in West Java Indonesia

Abstract

This paper discusses gender equality and career opportunities among female civil servants in a regency in West Java Indonesia. Those two areas have not been considered comprehensively in terms of the goals of gender equality and career opportunities for better public setvices. The purposes of this paper are to describe (1) the number of available positions in relation to the number of female civil servants, (2) the socio-cultural outlook on female civil servants in relation to gender equality and career opportunities and (3) socio-cultural views on gender quality and a career in politics. To achieve these three objectives, this paper used a qualitative approach with survey and interview techniques. The results showed that (1) only 37% of the official positions were presided by female civil servants. In contrast, male civil servants occupy 63% of the available positions, (2) the sociocultural view of female civil servants affirms that they are still regarded as male companions; (3) in addition, female civil servants do not need to compete with gender opponents, including the fact that women should not enter politics because the political world is considered dirty for women.

Female Masculinity Representation On Female Main Character in the Shadow of The War Game Blade of Galadriel

Abstract

This study aims to see how the representation of female-masculinity through female main characters in the game titled Shadow of the War - Blade of Galadriel. Made by two game producers, Monolith and Warner Bros, this game tells the story of a woman named Eltariel who plays a role to combat crimes on Earth. Eltariels character has a dominant side of masculinity showed in her ability to fight, made decisions, and be a leader of the war. The significancy of this study lies on the fact that so far the role of women in the game mostly being used as a NPC or Non-Player Character only, exploring female body and sexuality as a spectacle object. The type of this study is qualitative descriptive using Alan Mc Kees Textual Analysis method. The result shows that the masculine image of female main character in the game Shadow of the War - Blade of Galadriel is shown through leadership quality, physical strength (physically masculine), and independency. This description offers a deconstruction frame against female inferiority in media texts, although the objectification of women continues to emerge through representation of beauty masculinity attached on Eltariel. The implication of this study related to how media could create particular representation of female-masculinity in the context of gender and game studies.

Women in the Anti-hoax Movements on Social Media

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has changed the way of making social movements. The technology has facilitated activists to communicate and develop their campaign strategies on internet mainly the social media. As a social movement starting on social media, the anti-hoax movement receives so many responses from netizens. The anti-hoax movement is a movement to fight against the distribution of hoax on social media. Many women are involved in this anti-hoax movement on social media. This writing aims at describing various social backgrounds of women activists and their involvement in fighting hoax on social media. The method used in this research is a virtual study by observing the participations of some women activists who are actively engaged in the anti-hoax movement, conducting a survey to 30 women activists, and making online interviews to 11 activists. The research finding shows that the social backgrounds of women activists vary and they come from various social classes. The anti-hoax women activists made several actions through campaigns, writings, reviewing hoax, and distributing the fact checks. This research provides a description on how women took part in the anti-hoax movement on social media.

Abstract

The study aim to analyze the role of women counselors in empowerment of drug addicts former in social and economic rehabilitation. The research used case study method, data was collected through interviews, observation, Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and documentation with triangulation analysis. The informant research through purposive sampling, informant research that the leaders of boarding school, counselors and patients of drug addicts former. The research location in Islamic Education Foundation of Nurul Ichsan Al Islami Purbalingga. The results showed rehabilitation of drug addicts, the role of women councelors could be medically with inpatient and outpatient care in the Islamic Education Foundation of Nurul Ichsan Al Islami as a nurse in a hospital. To improve the mental and motivation that are no longer a marginal community which had negative stigma, concern to non-medical rehabilitation as through spiritual approach to Islam and motherhood supported by empowerment program could be assist in social and economic rehabilitation.

Sensuality Elements of Female Main Character in Video Game

Abstract

Visualization of female main character characters in video games is generally hypersexual. Video games show female characters with a sensual image of seductive dress is one of the marketing strategies for video game makers because video game companies want to sell as many products as possible. Sensual images represented on female characters are found in the main characters in the 30 video games studied. The method used is research with content analysis method, using a quantitative approach. Through content analysis can be described what kinds of sensuality elements exist in the video game and the percentage duration of their appearance. The conclusion of this study is that sensuality is represented by the way of dressing in the form of tight and open costumes that show sensitive parts such as cleavage and thighs. Each female character is also designed with body proportions in the form of a slender waist, slender abdomen, large, full legs, thighs and chest. Positions or movements that are displayed are poses that are able to show part of a womans body which is generally covered. In economic value, of course the visualization of female video game figures can boost popularity and increase the selling value of video games. But on a normalized basis, this is in conflict with the customs, religion and social views of the general public in Indonesia.

Abstract

Financial management skill should be possessed more for micro, small, and medium enterprises. In order to manage their financial, the skill of financial literacy is a must. Sufficient financial literacy can lead to appropriate financial strategy so that they can invest and manage finance well.
The purpose of this research is to discover the difference of financial literacy and entrepreneurial motivation of micro, small, and medium enterprises based on gender role and higher education. The sample used on this research is 300 micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs using purposive sampling method. The research applied t-test to identify the difference. The result showed that there is no significant difference of financial literacy based on gender role, also for entrepreneurial motivation, no significant difference is identified. But, there is significant difference of financial literacy and entrepreneurial motivation based on education.

Pulau-Pulau Batu Women, South Nias: Gender Balance Analysis in Fisherman Family Economic Activities

Abstract

Batu Islands, South Nias Regency has considerable natural resource potential because it is an archipelago that is rich in marine natural resources. Attention to the social potential of the community that manages these natural resources in a sustainable manner is also needed. Fishermen who should be able to manage and utilize natural resources are actually still in poverty. Women fishermen play an important role in the economic activities of fishermen households. Therefore, this study was conducted to find out how the division of labor in fishing households on the islands of Batu, and how the balance of gender in the families of fishermen in Batu Islands, South Nias Regency. This research is a descriptive study, using qualitative analysis. The results showed that women in Mahang Island played an active role in the familys economy by becoming fishermen seeking Kimo shells. The level of education is still relatively low, affecting the mindset especially in making family economic management decisions. Gender balance occurs in women who play a big role in the family economy. Customary and cultural values that tend to be patriarchal, in the implementation of customary activities are still influential, but in womens economic activities depend on the situation and condition of the family. The activities of fishermens wives in the field of fisheries are selling catches from her husband, processing salted fish, making processed food from fish which are then sold on the market. While coastal role activities outside the fisheries sector are opening food stalls, becoming part-time traders, gardeners, cake makers, and selling cakes.

In conclusion, the article on www.thisisgender.com in gender studies, uses Islamic worldview that refers to Islamic sources and doctrine. Abstract. This paper wants to explore more about the motives of women who are workers abroad. In addition, it also explores the role of domestic women workers who intend to become migrant workers. Furthermore, this paper also analyzes the forms of violence experienced by female migrant workers. The method used in this study is interview. Research location in Madura. The informants of this research are women who have become workers abroad. It has become a fact that Madurese women who work as migrant workers are not small. The motive behind women is the female workforce because they want to help their husbands and economic factors. Female laborers on average take on the role of domestic work such as housewives. The form of violence experienced by female workers varies from psychological to economic.

SYMBOLIC WOMEN IN NGANYARAN CEREMONY

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore information related to the symbolic meaning of women in the Nganyaran Ceremony. This research was conducted to the people of Kasepuhan Ciptagelar, Sirnaresmi Village, Sub-district Cisolok, District Sukabumi, West Java, conducted from June to August 2018 with ethnographic methods. Data collection was carried out by observation, participant observation, in-depth interviews, secondary data studies, and documentation. The results of the study showed that the structure created in the Nganyaran ceremony described the functions of women who could be said to be life givers. In this context, Dewi Sri or Juru pare or paddy is also a symbol of reproduction (social) for the Kasepuhan Ciptagelar people. So that the Nganyaran ceremony becomes a meaning revealed in the symbol system that has a function as if it were a reality as a form or social arrangement of the Kasepuhan Ciptagelar native people.

Abstract

This research discusses about the strategies and tactics of the womens movement in seizing the repression of democratic space in Yogyakarta. The subjects in this study are 2 (two) woman organizations namely Perkumpulan Keluarga Berencana Indonesia (PKBI) Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY) and Needle and Bitch.
The purpose of this research is to understand the internal dynamics, external dynamics, and strategy of the social movement struggle especially womens movement in Yogyakarta.
The method which utilised in this study is qualitative method by comparative case study with in-depth interviews and participatory observation.The findings of this study shows that the womens movement that has a professional organisational structure is more inclined to use the moderate method by empowering the affected groups; while the womens movement that has participatory organisational structure is more inclined to use the radical method by mobilising the masses to defend the democratic space.
The implications of the womens movement strategy in the new democratic struggle to realise the importance of seizing the democratic spaceonly reach out to individuals and groups within the scope of the movement. The democratic struggle by the womens movement in the future requires to strengthen the network of the pro-democracy movement in the effort for the changes in the wider range.

Abstract

Media and gender cannot be separated because gender is a social formation of roles, functions, and tasks in daily life, social, and work for men and women. The stereotypical influence carried by the media increasingly thickens patriarchal culture and becomes a barrier to gender equality, where men and women should have equal access and rights in social life, education, employment, and in various other aspects of life. The use of online media gave birth to consumerism behavior in the perceptions of men and women based on APJII 2017 survey of internet media users distinguished by gender, male number (51.43%) and female (48.57%). It is seen that men dominate the use of internet media in Indonesia. Besides that, when viewed from the use of the internet for the economic sector, the most APJII was disclosed for price-seeking activities (45.14%), helping jobs (41.04%), buying information (37.82%), buying online (32,19%), and the smallest is selling online (16.83%. This is the background of this research, the purpose of this study was to determine gender perceptions of the use of online media and consumerism behavior. This study uses a quantitative methodology with 50 quota sampling techniques. Respondents aged 18 to 20 years because of this age are teenagers who actively use online media. The results of this study found that there is a difference in perceptions between male and female gender on the behavior of the use of online media and consumerism behavior. noticed that men are also a potential part of consumerism products that are available online, while women remain a source of division strength in consumerism behavior.

Sues for Female Artist Divorce in the Study of Media Political Economy

Abstract

This study aims to dismantle the ideology and interests that have been frozen in the language behind the divorce of the artist Julia Perez on the Seleb On News program, MNC TV. This study uses a qualitative approach with Norman Faircloughs Critical Discourse Analysis method with three dimensions which are the main focus points, namely texts, discursive practices and social practice. The results of the study: through the text of the editorial news Seleb On News MNC TV has made the issue of women a commodity. Artist Julia Perezs divorce suit was told dramatically and moving. Seleb On News sells the sadness and tears of women for their business interests while preserving the ideology of patriarchy by portraying a woman as a weak creature. Ecofeminism Representation in a Collection of Childrens Stories by Child Writers

Abstract

The purpose of this study describes the representation of ecofeminism in the collection of childrens stories and their realization (the ten best manuscripts of the 2015 childrens story contest) by childrens authors. Feminists believe that human beings are interconnected with one another, and are also related to non-human beings, such as nature. Women and nature have symbolic similarities because they are both oppressed by humans who are masculine in character. Efforts to save the environment according to ecofeminism are a way to re-promote womens traits. The data source of this study is a collection of childrens stories by childrens writers published by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The collection of childrens stories was determined by purposive sampling. The research data was obtained by reading the collection of childrens stories repeatedly, recorded, and classified according to the research focus categories related to ecofeminism issues. Data were analyzed using a framework of feminist literary criticism. The results of the study show that there are ecofemist representations in the short story collection, among others, in the story entitled mencari ujung pelangi by Kalyana Adzhara. In the title found eleven sentences that represent expressions / words / actions criticizing environmental destruction by female characters (Alfi) and only three sentences found revealed by male characters (Ferdi). It is proven that in caring more about the natural environment, which has the responsibility to preserve nature and its balance (ecofeminis), is a woman. Women have more involvement than men in life-sustaining jobs. Women pay attention to elements: water, air, earth and fire.

Abstract

Today we saw the trend of using hijab, the trendy veil in indonesian moeslem women. Television, magazines and social media are potreying the ideal image of indonesian moeslim women using hijab. This research is supiciousing that media was formed a discourse of governing females bodies in Islamic framework and then it became a women national identity in indonesia. Theory that used in this research is posmodernism along with gender analysis of feminism in the media. Meanwhile methods which being used is genealogi based on Foucaults thought. These methods could help researcher to analyzing relation power of hijab meaning in the media. And for the enterance, this research choose NooR Magazine and instagram Hijabers Community Tracing genealogi gave us the deconstruction of hijab meaning for this trend. This deconstruction also see women whom consuming media in pseudo-conciusness meanwhile it comes for hijab decision. Relation power that works forming hijab meaning are not limited to mass media or social media but there are also another agents which forming this hijab meaning.

Gender Correlates of Moral Value in Early Childhood

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the differences in dimensions of moral values based on gender. The study is cross-sectional research and using 96 kindergarten students in Surabaya, Indonesia as the subjects. They are consisting of 40 male students and 56 female students. The scale used in this study is the scale of moral values according to the theory by Borba. The result shows that there are differences in moral values of empathy in male and female students with t value is -2.258 and value of significance is 0.026. Where as in the moral values of conscience, self-control, respect, kindness, tolerance and justice do not show significant differences between male and female students. This research shows that male and female students in general do not have any differences about the moral values, except on the aspect of empathy that shows the difference. Female students may be more able to express their feelings when they see their friends facing a problem than the male. Further research still need to be developed, for example related to the method of moral values education for early childhood, and the influence of family and school on the development of moral values of children

Abstract

This research examines disciplining the body of middle-class Muslim women by the beauty industry using a literature review approach. Several theories are employed in this research including the theory of sociology of body, gender perspective and the concept of capitalism. Results indicates that manipulation of the beauty industry places women as active consumers but remains passive at the same time because it cannot fight the flow of legitimacy of this body. The dependence of middle-class Muslim women on beauty products shows that women are now fully under the control of the beauty industry regime which continues to direct the discourse of beauty and womens appearance needs. The beauty of middle-class Muslim women has now been reproduced and discourse uniformly by the beauty industry. The implications of this research are this study is expected to contribute information and enrich the repertoire of social science especially sociology also for the development of research on women body, middle class and gender studies.

Abstract

Information and communication technologies (ICTs) is an alternative source to obtain the information of agricultural innovations. This research aims to investigate the ICTs ownership and the utilization of ICTs for supporting commercial farming activities in Yogyakarta. It was conducted in four sub-district namely Patuk (Gunungkidul Regency), Turi (Sleman Regency), Sanden (Bantul Regency) and Panjatan (Kulon Progo Regency). Farmer samples were selected by simple random sampling technique.The total sample was 120 peasants. The research results show that smartphone and mobile-phone are the most popular media owned by farmers although the utilities is limited to dial function. Internet access in smartphone is not functional because of the signal difficulty in some areas. The utilization of ICTs for supporting commercial farming activities which includes for searching agricultural information. Technical production is the popular topic farmer search from electronic media, including smartphone, mobile-phone, radio, and television. Farmers also access marketing information mostly from mobile-phone and smartphone. They sometimes watch success stories of a farmer from television since this topic can inspire them to work harder as farmers. Human interest, policy and funding are not the popular topic they search from electronic media.

Abstract

Information technology nowdays become important aspects of life, not least in terms of business competition. Information technology has even become one of the 12 pillars that are used as a measuring tool for world competitiveness index compiled by the WEF (World Economic Forum). In Indonesia, the presence of information technology is well responed. As mentioned at publication of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (ICT business sector, 2011) states that of the 803 740 number of businesses or companies such as using a computer and the rest do not. While using the internet amounts to 694 and the rest are not mengunakan.Melihat fact, this study will look at how the effect of the application of information technology to product quality Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and in East Java. Have been considering the establishment of Small and Medium industriess have contributed to the employment of 99.74% of the total national uptake and contribute to GDP by 1.1013,5 trillion, or 56.73%. The method used in this study is a mix methods. Sample in this research is the Small and Medium Industries in Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Mojokerto, Pasuruan and Malang.

Abstract

This study analyzed the news related to the women representation in political election. This study used the theory of critical discourse analysis from Sara Mills to know the media bias in coverage of women and to display a particular actor as a subject, which defines a particular event
or group in political events in Indonesia especially in East Java. This study used content analysis in qualitative research design. The data is the news of Jakarta Post E-paper with the title challenges, opportunities for new women leader. The findings revealed there is women powerfullness, women powerlessness and gender position in political election. The result represented the woman as a person who has the same effort to compete in political contest. This study is expected to contribute to the strength analysis of a media in lifting women into winners in political elections.

Abstract

Abstract - This study aims to find out how the implementation of Gender Responsive Budget policy (ARG) in 2017 and to review policies and efforts undertaken by the Government of Sidoarjo regency in improving the policy of gender mainstreaming in Sidoarjo regency. The scope of this Gender Responsive Budget Policy Evaluation is to identify the ARG implememtation of each Regional Device Organization in the Sidoarjo District Government Environment. The focus of this activity is to obtain information about programs and activities within the Government of Sidoarjo Regency in terms of gender responsive planning and budgeting. This research uses descriptive research type which result of analysis also equipped with qualitative data to describe data based on facts, data and information. Quantitative data analysis techniques to describe data through statistics such as simple reresi analysis and determination analysis. The result of this research is the implementation of program and activity of regional apparatus organization in Sidoarjo Regency in 2017 show less responsive gender, and based on evaluation result of program and gender responsive budget based activity show that the realization of gender responsive budget equal to 52%. Efforts of Sidoarjo Regency Government in Completion of Gender Mainstreaming Policy in each organization of regional apparatus of Sidoarjo Regency can be done through benchmark on each performance of organization of regional apparatus that pay attention and consider aspects of program implementation and also activity which is based on gender responsive.
